Schematics Designer 9.1 was a new major version in which important new capabilities were added to allow managing schematic datasets. In this new version, improvements have been made to make your diagram types creation easier and to offer you the possibility to automatically enable the control of your schematic project parameters while you save them. Another change concerns the possibility to manage schematic layouts and specify their related property values per diagram type. Moreover, as new predefined builders and rules are now provided with Schematics 9.2, you will be able to create and specify new diagram types that will use these new builders and rules within Designer.
Making easier your schematic project conception
New with Schematics Designer 9.2 is the Diagram Type Assistant that guides you in your new diagram types creation and parameters specification. The Diagram Type Assistant automatically launches the first time you edit the schematic project related to a newly created schematic dataset. When you edit a schematic project that already contains schematic diagram type definitions, the Diagram Type Assistant should not automatically open but if needed, you can launch it by right clicking the Diagram Types entry in the Designer tree and pointing to Diagram Type Assistant.

Forgetting to associate your newly created element type with a diagram type, forgetting to specify the origin and extremity nodes for a newly created link element type, etc., are very common oversights while you are customizing your schematic project parameters. With Schematics Designer 9.2, you can now enable the automatic checking of your schematic project parameters while you ask for saving your schematic project. In this case, the Please verify dialog box opens with different levels of warnings that invite you to check some particular points.

Managing schematic layout algorithms and their parameters per diagram type
Until now, if you wanted to specify your own default parameter values for your schematic layout algorithms, you needed to implement a custom component and initialize that component during your schematic project opening. Schematics Designer 9.2 has been extended to support the specification of the schematic layout algorithms' parameters. This customization can be done through the new Layout Task tab, which is now available when any diagram type entry is selected in your Designer tree.
You can also specify which schematic layout algorithms you want to be available or not from the Layout Task drop-down list of the Schematic Editor toolbar in ArcMap and order the schematic layout algorithm entries in this list; this customization can be done diagram type per diagram type.
